Message from the President

Dr. Perry C. Little

The 16th Century reformist Martin Luther stated that, only what is in scripture may be taught as necessary for salvation, thereby establishing the principle of sola scriptura “scripture alone”. As believers today, we also adhere to this principle that only what is contained in scripture is necessary for salvation. Thus we believe that biblical study, the study of the scripture, is an important part of every believer’s life. It is important for every believer to study the scripture so they can understand what is required of them, as they “work out their own salvation with fear and trembling” (Philippians 2: 12b).

The 16th century reformist Martin Luther also played an essential role in establishing the protestant belief that anyone can preach the gospel. As Luther says in the words of Peter, “ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ” (I Peter 2:5). The priesthood is not restricted to a particular group of individuals said Martin Luther, but the spirit of God makes us all high priests, and anyone can proclaim the gospel.

As church today, we continue to adhere to the belief in the priesthood of all believers, we believe the spirit of God can use anyone in the body of Christ. However even though Martin Luther advocated the priesthood of all believers, this is what Luther had to say concerning those who seek to be ordained ministers, “only ordained ministers are called to a public ministry of preaching. They should be learned that is, they should be well educated: you want them to know the scriptures themselves, the literature of the past, the church fathers, but also the whole history of Christian interpretation and learning, so that they can learn to read the scriptures the way the church reads them and has read them for hundreds and hundreds of years. This is not something that the ordained minister want to miss out on (Luther: Gospel, law and reformation: Phillip Cary).” So I say to you my brothers and sisters, don’t miss out, begin your educational journey in the spirit of excellence with All Saints Bible College. It does not matter if you are seeking to be ordained in ministry, or just seeking to study the scriptures as you work out your salvation with fear and trembling, come and study the scripture with us at All Saints Bible College - Don’t miss out on this great opportunity to, “grow in grace and in the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ” (II Peter 3:18a).
